"City parks are not abstractions, or automatic repositories of virtue or uplift.......they mean nothing divorced from their practical tangible uses" - Jane Jacobs
To reactivate these three sites we propose laying down a series of low maintenance, all-weather, multi-use game areas or 'MUGA's. There is a significant dearth of purposeful play areas immediately surrounding all three areas for toddlers, teenagers and adults alike. As all three locations are surrounded by a sufficient density of homes and variety of uses they represent ideal locations to support such proposals. Four international sized 5-a-side courts could be placed into Croppy Acre by Heuston Station while still allowing park area for the memorial. Meanwhile, Patrick's Park in the Liberties comfortably accommodates two pitches while retaining all mature trees and scope for further neighbourhood amenities. The Fish Market site behind the Four Courts, currently a car park, fits one junior pitch, one MUGA court, a children's play area and a sheltered spectator zone.
